Do you love to read? Do you want to support Australia's future authors? Become a volunteer reader for Australia's most inspiring writing competition!
Write a Book in a Day is a team competition with a focus on three key elements literacy, collaboration and creativity. Books are published online for kids in hospital with all funds raised going to The Kids’ Cancer Project.
We are looking for people who can help grade and shortlist our book entries, the books that are then shortlisted will be sent to judges who are Authors, Publishers, Literary Specialists who then award prizes for the competition. Reading is conducted online, so you can read from any location on any device with internet connection.
It's never been a burden. It's always been something I've just really loved, mainly because the kids get so much out of it.

The following are key to be a volunteer reader for Write a Book in a Day
- Be based in Australia
- Have a love of reading and writing
- Can commit to read from June to beginning of October
Great volunteers include:
- Teachers
- Libraians
- Pre service teachers
- University students especially those studying education, creative writing, literature
- Retired teachers
DATES: Reading runs from 1 June through to early October.
WHERE: All reading is completed online and can be done anywhere with an internet connection. Once you register, you’ll receive login details for the reading portal.
TIME: Each book takes approximately 15–20 minutes to read and review.
HOW: Clear reading guidelines will be provided to support you. Our team is also available to assist if you need any help along the way.
