  3. How it works

A step-by-step guide to get your team ready to write!

Step 1: Download the competition manual

Read the competition manual for everything you need to know about taking part in Write a Book in a Day.

Step 2: Register

Once you’re logged in, simply select a writing date and confirm your 5-10 team members (you can register as many teams as you like). All that’s left is to pay your $77 (inc. GST) registration fee which goes directly to supporting vital childhood cancer research.

Step 3: Start fundraising

You can collect sponsorship from friends and family any time during the competition dates. But remember, each team must raise a minimum of $240 before 30 September for their book to eligible for judging. All funds raised go directly to The Kids’ Cancer Project, plus there are great prizes for the top fundraisers!

Step 4: Ready, steady… write!

The day before your writing day, team coordinators will receive unique story parameters by email, including random words, character outlines and a setting to be used in the book. On the day, your team has 12 hours to write and illustrate your unique book, and submit it by 9pm ready for judging!
